I am once again asking for your vote to solve the housing crisis…

  1. ***”We’re doing everything we can to increase housing supply”***

    What a load of bullshit.

No legislation to reform the development process (i.e. zoning laws, restricting objections)

No legislation to reform compulsory purchase orders so they can purchase derelict buildings and transform them into housing

    No government construction of housing

No enforcement of current laws regarding short term letting

    No tax on vacant/derelict properties

Airbnb still operates widely, with more than 3000 properties available in Dublin (compared to 300 places available for locals to rent)

There are so many areas and ways the government could intervene and help the current situation, but they love the current market. After all, *”one person’s rent is another person’s income”.*

  2. I’d be more inclined to believe him if they actually did something. Even if it didn’t work, I’d give him a pass. But him and his posse have literally done nothing to improve supply. He knows that, therefore he’s a liar. I hate that my mind is wandering towards giving SF a chance at doing nothing. Maybe, just maybe they’ll actually do something.

  3. Leo Varadkar got a COVID test off my friend the other day before this trip, when my friend (incredibly hungover and dyslexic) asked him how to spell Varadkar he scoffed and looked down his nose at him. Didn’t say please or thank you either. My friend wasn’t in the way of treating him different from anyone else, but clearly Leo thinks he’s above the rest of us.

Not to mention my friend is also gay and therefore Leo was committing a fruit on fruit crime, nae solidarity these days

  4. All this tells me is they know _exactly_ how to sort this shit out and are actively choosing not to.

    Shower of absolute bolloxes

  5. “we’re doing *everything* we can to pull out *all* the stops”

That is the most middle-manager’y phrase in the english language, right there. Meaningless, benign-sounding drivel.

  6. I have nothing to say about this. but do you guys think fewer insects are hitting your windshields these days, like when I grew up seems like it would be coved in bugs after a drive nowadays, not at all, what do you think is going on with that?

  7. “*Everything we can to pull out the stops*”?

This sounds like me when I’m considering thinking about planning to start that project, but I’m not quite ready to commit to anything yet.

  8. Can’t wait for 2025, I don’t think Sinn Fein would be able to do much more but FF and FG need a good kick in the arse and shown they are not untouchable.

I honestly think Sinn Fein will try, I hope to God they do.

  9. When Sinn Fein Unites Ireland , this fella will be telling everyone in 20 years how he fought the unionists back with bare hands and mouth

  10. Ironic that he is saying this at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the ultimate wankfest for billionaire globalists and corporate interests. So more globalism, more immigration, a permanent demand imbalance for housing, all ensuring the system of landlordism is safe in this country for another century at least. He does not give a shit about the Irish people.

  11. My dude i vote against these assholes but they just coalition anyways. It really feels like it doesn’t matter who i vote for, no matter what FF/FG will just coalition gaining majority anyways…

  12. If they truly are doing everything they can then that’s an inditement as to how throughly useless they are and that change is badly needed. We simply can’t vote FFG into power again.

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.”
