One in five employees expect to change jobs this year

  1. You have to, what used to be a comfortable salary is now looking more and more precarious with cost of living increases. Any professional that was hesitant about seeking a promotion is now going to be actively looking for any increase in their salary.

  2. Numbers without context so not sure what conclusions they are expecting people to draw. Is that more or less than last year?

  3. Just about to jump ship in a couple of weeks, I’m nervous as hell because I’ve never left a job for another job before (always been temporary, sacked, or redundancy etc), but I just needed more money. Hopefully this has some upward pressure on wages, but I still see a lot of companies not offering more than min wage.

  4. Well of course, companies are bagging record profits while announcing it’s been a difficult year so can’t offer staff an above inflation payrise.

Really gotta question the logic there but I guess shareholders need their money!!

  5. My options this year: stay put in the Civil Service for a 3.5% ‘payrise’ (after last year’s pay freeze). Or move to the private sector for a clean 48% bump.

Of course, I imagine I’ll be flipping jobs again in a couple of years when the new place offers a below-inflation increases to existing staff – but such is the game. Want loyalty? Pay me.

  6. That’s me, just got a job offer that not only guarantees to be fully WFH, but also comes with exactly 50% pay rise. Once the contract is signed I’m putting my notice in.
