A volunteer DJ at a UMass Lowell student-run radio station has resigned after posting a threatening message to his personal BlueSky account directed at VP JD Vance, according to a statement from the university.
The university said that it was alerted to the social media post on Jan. 2, which suggested “violence directed toward the vice president of the United States,” according to the statement. The person who posted it was said to be an alumni who was a volunteer contributor at the station.
UMass officials notified the FBI, Secret Service and police in Haverhill after being alerted to the post, the university said. Authorities determined there was no immediate threat.
“UMass Lowell takes seriously any threat of violence involving our community,” their statement said. “Statements such as the post in question are inconsistent with the values of our democracy and our university.”
The DJ resigned and removed the post from his social media.
It was a Fox News Digital reporter that alerted UMass to the post.
