Emirates has announced the launch of a daily, year-round direct flight connecting Helsinki and Dubai, starting October 1, 2026.

This new route marks a significant milestone as it establishes the first-ever continuous, nonstop air link between Finland and the United Arab Emirates, while further strengthening Emirates’ presence across the Nordic region.

The service will utilize Emirates’ cutting-edge Airbus A350 aircraft right from the inaugural flight. This modern widebody jet introduces the airline’s latest onboard innovations to Finnish passengers, including its highly praised Premium Economy cabin alongside Business and Economy classes.

With a configuration accommodating 298 passengers across three spacious cabins, the A350 stands out for its exceptional fuel efficiency and remarkably quiet interior—one of the most serene twin-aisle experiences available in commercial aviation today.

Emirates Leadership Perspective

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion. “The Dubai-Helsinki route represents an exciting addition to our worldwide network. We already see robust demand between these two cities, with many passengers currently routing through our other Nordic entry points.”

“Launching this direct, year-round option creates a smoother, nonstop journey while bringing enhanced premium choices to the table. Beyond addressing existing traffic, we anticipate drawing in travelers who previously chose indirect paths, thereby expanding the overall market and opening doors for more people to explore what both destinations offer.”

Kazim highlighted Finland’s unique appeal as one of the planet’s most sought-after locations, blending cutting-edge innovation, breathtaking natural landscapes, and rich cultural heritage.

This opens fresh avenues for tourism, commerce, and partnerships between the UAE and broader regions. He extended gratitude to the Finnish government for their collaboration in making the route possible and eagerly anticipated welcoming passengers aboard.

A Windfall for Finnish Tourism

Finland’s tourism sector stands to benefit substantially from this connectivity. Recent data indicate a strong recovery, with international visitor arrivals to accommodation establishments reaching around 12.26 million in 2023. This reflects growing interest from markets worldwide.

Emirates’ extensive network will channel travellers from Australia, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East directly to Helsinki. This addresses rising demand for comfortable, efficient journeys to the Nordic country.

Finland has earned widespread acclaim as a top travel spot. It features prominently on Lonely Planet’s must-visit destinations for 2026. It is celebrated for its year-round allure, from chasing the mesmerizing Northern Lights in Arctic winters to basking in the endless daylight of the Midnight Sun in summer.

The nation’s 41 national parks safeguard vast green forests, scenic Baltic islands, and rugged Arctic fells. Crystal-clear lakes attract unique wildlife, including reindeer, wolves, bears, and lynx. The endangered Saimaa ringed seal is exclusive to Lake Saimaa.

Helsinki, the vibrant capital, perfectly embodies Finland’s renowned quality of life. For the eighth consecutive year, Finland has been crowned the world’s happiest country according to the World Happiness Report.

Helsinki seamlessly merges urban sophistication with immediate proximity to serene forests and lakes. As the birthplace of the sauna tradition—recognized by UNESCO—visitors can immerse themselves in authentic Finnish wellness practices.

The city also boasts a dynamic design heritage, and innovative culinary scene. Cultural discoveries make it equally appealing for business professionals and leisure seekers.

Deepening Ties Between UAE and Finland

Beyond leisure travel, the new route bolsters deepening ties between the UAE and Finland. Bilateral relations thrive on shared priorities like renewable energy, artificial intelligence, digital innovation, advanced technology, education, space exploration, and sustainability.

Growing trade volumes will receive a boost through Emirates SkyCargo, with each A350 flight offering up to 16 tonnes of bellyhold capacity.

As a leading European centre for high-tech manufacturing and timber, Finland is poised to export pharmaceuticals, electronics, machinery, perishables, and premium goods more efficiently to the UAE and global markets.

The Dubai-Helsinki launch promises elevated travel standards, stronger economic links, and greater opportunities to experience Finland’s natural wonders and innovative spirit.

With tickets already available, anticipation is building for what promises to be a transformative addition to Emirates’ global operations.
