For nearly 25 years, Act Too Players has been supporting local kids with a wide range of music and theater classes, camps and performance opportunities. Owner and theater arts director Sondra Morton has built up a wonderfully inclusive and empowering community, and all classes are taught by seasoned music and theater pros. It’s always a lot of fun to see these budding artists in action, and beginning this Friday, you can check out Act Too’s latest efforts at the historic Franklin Theatre. Performances kick off on January 16 with a delightful 30-minute adaptation of Disney’s Frozen Kids (featuring youngsters ages 7-9). There’s also a great one-act version of Disney’s Aladdin Jr. (ages 10-13), along with a sweet non-musical show called Junie B. Jones: Toothless Wonder (ages 8-15). And on January 24-25, look for a pair of classic musicals — Lionel Bart’s Oliver Jr., which offers a lovely musical retelling of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist (ages 7-18), and a special school edition of Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award-winner Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (ages 14-18).Â
