The former CEO of Uralkali, Vladislav Baumgertner, has been found dead in Cyprus, APA’s Russia bureau reports, citing the Telegram channel “Baza”.

A DNA test has confirmed the body found in Cyprus belongs to him.

The deceased man was discovered on January 14 in the coastal zone between the villages of Pissouri and Avdimou, in an area with an inaccessible shoreline.

An autopsy conducted today confirmed that the body belonged to 56-year-old Baumgertner.

It was reported that he had been missing for a week and disappeared from his home in Pissouri on January 7.

The cause of Vladislav Baumgertner’s death has not yet been determined, and various hypotheses are being considered, ranging from an accident to a criminal act.

According to local police, the 56-year-old businessman was last seen leaving his home in Limassol wearing black shorts and a short-sleeved shirt. His last phone signal was recorded on January 7 near the village of Pissouri.

Note that Vladislav Baumgertner headed Uralkali from 2005 to 2011. He became widely known in 2013 after being arrested in Belarus on charges of abuse of office. After being handed over to Russian authorities, Baumgertner was released due to a lack of evidence.
