  1. Honestly, doing that kind of thing would destroy me, especially if it’s things that really mean alot to me, the fact that people have to sell items that hold such emotional value feels wrong, disgusting even

  2. I’m becoming something of a fan of cash transfers. That’s people on the brink of ruin getting an unconditional and substantial cash infection. Some are against, because they think recipients will just blow the cash on alcohol and drugs. But where it has been tried people get themselves out of debt, are much less likely of becoming homeless, and get themselves back on their feet. There’s some research and plenty of anecdotes suggesting they work. Much better than expecting people to sell heirlooms and stuff they have great emotional attachment to.
