The CAF-Alstom consortium has been selected by French operator SNCF Voyageurs to supply ten more Régiolis trains, worth around EUR 80 million, which will be operated in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in southwestern France.

Under the contract, CAF will be responsible for designing and assembling the trains at its Reichshoffen plant, while Alstom will produce various on-board systems and equipment.

The new regional electric multiple units will be four-car bimodal – electric and diesel – and will have a capacity of 208 passengers. They will offer a high level of comfort, with large windows, indirect LED interior lighting, seats with armrests, reading lights, and power sockets for electronic devices.

The new Régiolis trains for Nouvelle-Aquitaine will complement the existing fleet of 54 identical trains currently operating on the region’s rail network.

This recent expansion of the Régiolis train fleet is in addition to orders already secured by the CAF-Alstom consortium in recent years for various French regions. These orders stem from the 2021 agreement with Alstom, under which CAF acquired the industrial plant in Reichshoffen, Alsace, as well as responsibility for developing extensions to this regional train platform for SNCF.

In December 2025, SNCF Voyageurs and the CAF-Alstom consortium signed a contract for the delivery of 22 Régiolis multiple units for the Région Sud.

With these ten new units, the total number of trains ordered by CAF now stands at nearly 50, consolidating production volume at the company’s factories in France and strengthening the group’s position as a long-term partner of French local, regional, and national authorities in the development of public transport.

The CAF group currently offers one of the widest ranges of products on the French mobility market, from long-distance Intercités trains to commuter trains, trams, and metros. This has consolidated CAF’s presence in France, establishing the country as one of the company’s key markets for the coming years.

CAF is currently executing various contracts for some of France’s main rail networks. Among the most important are trains for the RER B commuter line in Paris, new Intercités units for SNCF serving the Paris-Clermont, Paris-Toulouse, and Bordeaux-Marseille routes, and tram projects in the metropolitan areas of Montpellier, Marseille, Tours, and Grenoble.
