More than 370 stores nationwide, including dozens in Osaka, have begun offering round‑the‑clock bag‑drop services via the Ecbo Cloak app and website.

Japan’s konbini are already known for their unusually broad range of services, from ATMs that accept international cards to ticket purchases and printing. The addition of luggage storage further cements 7‑Eleven’s role as a key stop for domestic and international visitors alike.

The service aims to ease a growing travel pain point: the scarcity of available coin lockers near busy stations and tourist hotspots. Travellers can now reserve a space in advance, pay online and avoid the uncertainty of searching for an empty locker during peak hours. Most participating stores operate 24/7, providing flexibility for those arriving before hotel check‑in, waiting for a late flight or trying to explore the city unencumbered.
