Nationwide Uprising- No. 48

NCRI logoClashes reported in Rafsanjan, Khorramabad, Kermanshah, Isfahan, Mashhad, and other locations.

Despite brutal suppression, protests and clashes continued in Tehran and many other cities on Thursday, January 15. Reports indicate street battles in numerous areas.

Many parts of Tehran are under a heavy military and security presence. Jomhouri Square and its surrounding areas have been blocked by ‘NOPO’ special forces. Twenty-four-hour motorcycle patrols equipped with Kalashnikovs and shotguns are stationed in various areas, including Pirouzi, Gorgan, the First and Third Squares of Tehranpars, Rashid Street, Naziabad, Yousefabad, Sattar Khan, Enghelab, Molavi, Shoush, College Square, and Sadeghieh. Nevertheless, on Wednesday and Thursday nights, rebellious youths took to the streets in the Pirouzi and Tehranpars districts, chanting anti-regime slogans and clashing with suppressive forces. In Qolhak, an ammunition depot belonging to the IRGC and Basij was set on fire by rebellious youths. In Abdanan, Ilam province, thousands of people attended the funeral of the martyred teenager Alireza Seidi on Wednesday, chanting slogans such as ‘Death to Khamenei,’ ‘I will kill the one who killed my brother,’ ‘This country will not be a country until the mullahs are shrouded,’ and ‘This is the year of blood; Seyed Ali will be overthrown.’

On Thursday night in Rafsanjan, rebellious youths engaged in hit-and-run clashes with the regime’s special units. The buildings of the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, the post office, and a state-owned bank were set ablaze. Hit-and-run clashes continued in the streets of Kermanshah, Islamabad-e Gharb, and Ilam. Parts of the mountainous regions have reportedly fallen out of the regime’s control.

In Khorramabad, the regime, fearing the fall of government buildings, deployed tanks at key points throughout the city. Rebellious youths also clashed with special units in Isfahan’s Malek Shahr and Motahari Street areas, as well as in Gonbad-e Kavus, Khoy, Langarud, Mashhad, and Kahrizak.
