Belle Brockhoff, one of Australia’s most accomplished winter athletes, announced on Friday (16 January) that she is ending her snowboard cross career. 

After 15 years of competing at the highest level, the three-time Olympian’s retirement comes three weeks before the start of Milano Cortina 2026.

“Snowboarding has given me so much over the years,…But right now, the competitive chapter that defined so much of my life has come to a close,” Brockhoff, 33, said in a post on Instagram.  

“I will miss everything that snowboard cross has given me. It has been my passion, my identity and my greatest adventure. But above all, I’m most grateful for the lifelong friendships that have come from it.

“To my teammates, rivals and the entire snowboard cross community – we have shared epic battles and unforgettable moments. You pushed me, inspired me, and made the sport better. You’ve all given this sport its heart. I will still go riding, share that love of snowboarding with the next generation.” 

In 2010, Brockhoff competed in her first World Cup event in parallel giant slalom, before switching to snowboard cross two years later.

She participated in three Olympic Winter Games. starting with Sochi 2014, and three world championships. She also made 63 World Cup starts throughout her career, with four victories.
