The most popular members of the Royal Family have been revealed – and it’s the Prince and Princess of Wales who have come out on top. And while William and Kate are the most loved members of the Firm among Brits, two other royals received their lowest ever approval rating in a new survey.

The poll, run by survey site YouGov, tracks the public’s favourability rankings among key royals, and despite their difficult 2025 amidst several scandals, the view of the Firm has remained largely unchanged. Coming out on top yet again were William and Kate, with more than three quarters of Brits seeing them in a favourable light.

Prince William and Princess Kate

William received the highest approval rating with 77 per cent, and Kate just behind with 74 per cent. Positivity is also high and unmoved towards Princess Anne, with 70 per cent of the public having a good opinion of the Princess Royal.

The King remains largely popular, with six in ten Britons (60 per cent) having a positive opinion of Charles, roughly double the 31 per cent who see him unfavourably. The public also tend to be fond of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, with around half of Brits (50-51 percent) having positive opinions of Prince Edward and his wife Sophie.

On the other end of the spectrum however, public opinion towards Prince Harry remains similarly negative to previous waves of the tracker, with only 31 per cent seeing Prince Harry positively.

Meghan Markle received her lowest approval rating to date, with just 19 per cent of Britons having a favourable view of the American Duchess. Unsurprisingly, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor also received his lowest ever favourability score, with just three per cent of Brits sharing a positive opinion of the disgraced royal.

In terms of the monarchy as a whole, attitudes towards the Royal Family remain mostly positive, with nearly six in ten Brits (57-59 per cent) seeing the Firm in general and the institution of the monarchy in a favourable light, though a persistent third (33-34 per cent) see both negatively.

Additionally, nearly half of Brits (47 per cent) say they are outright proud of the British monarchy, relative to just 19 percent who feel outright embarrassed, with a further 31 percent saying they are neither proud nor embarrassed of the institution.

The Royal Family had a particularly eventful 2025, with a slew of scandals relating to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor throwing the Firm into disarray. Allegations against the former prince continued to emerge throughout the year in relation to his connection to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The numerous scandals resulted in King Charles officially stripping his disgraced brother Andrew of his HRH style and his prince title, and removed his dukedom from the Roll of the Peerage over his “serious lapses” of judgment. He was also evicted from the Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate, which has been his home for more than 20 years.

The move followed the publication of a posthumous memoir by Andrew’s accuser, Virginia Giuffre, and the US government’s release of documents from Epstein’s estate. It emerged that Andrew had emailed Epstein in 2011 saying “we’re in this together”, three months after he claimed he had broken all contact with the billionaire paedophile. Andrew denies all wrongdoing.
