It’s mostly safe. It’s not perfect and definitely not comfortable, but at the same time, train travel is smooth.
On the IC1 we call it a monday
I still wish the astoro trains would have more space for passengers ngl
Short answer, still (much) saver than being in a car walking on foot next to a road.
If you include bacteria, Viruses and random violence caused by claustrophobia no idea…
this shouldnt have happened, the actual train from winterthur – st. gallen had a failure. So they sent this one.
Yes
Most of the times when I see that, there are still tons of available seats but groups of 4 don’t want to sit separately for an hour so they will just stand in the way, or individuals consider that a 4-seats space is fully occupied when there are only 2 persons in there. Not to mention the seats occupied by bags.
Better to have 1 crowded train than 1000 cars in the highway. If you’re talking about COVID, wear a mask like I do.
Yes, trains can’t brake abruptly, so it’s quite safe to travel standing. It’s just uncomfortable.
This is madness!
Madness?
This is a normal TRAIIIIN!
I’ve been on many trains like this pre-pandemic on my Bern – Zurich commute.
It is only unsafe because I want to explode with annoyance on anyone breathing or eating in my face.
Trains are getting crowded again and to save money, SBB plans to cut certain trains from the timetable.
Thats why you reserve a seat on these trains and don’t use them to travel from Zurich to Winterthur/St. Gallen.
Sometimes I wonder if some people live in a parallel reality 😂
If you’re talking safe as in COVID, then I should point out that this is how crowded subway trains are in literally every single city with a population of over a million.
Why wouldn’t it be safe?
Safe? -Yes.
Comfortable? -No.
It’s based on the reality that I take the commuter train every day between Lausanne and Yverdon and first class has hardly anyone in it and people are sitting in the aisles and doorways in second class.
Edit: I used to take first class with 2 other people to avoid the crowds during the pandemic.
Yes, it is safe, just not very comfortable
Meanwhile they tell us to stop driving cars.
Why would it not be safe?
If you think it isn’t, walk 🙂
Yes, and any other country would find this acceptable.
But we shouldn’t, or we are tacitly approving of them lowering the standards.
Please complain on Facebook/Twitter and write to Blick/20min.
Swiss here. No, it is not safe to have more than 1 person per 4 seats. The train will explode at any minute.
I recently experienced a similarly full train. The personnel was telling the people who wanted to enter that the train is full and that they cannot join anymore because of safety reasons (emergency exits must be accessible). The people entered anyways arguing the are having a ticket, making the train personnel mad. Almost the train did not depart, but the train crew gave in after some time.
Ask people in india if is safe😂
Update#2 the train restarted after removing a considerable amount of people, and clearing the corridors from luggage and people. For all haters in this chat normalizing and mocking the situation: do not confuse comfort with safety…
You call this a crowded train? Have you ever commuted by train from Winterthur to Zürich? It is nothing compared to that wonderful experience.
Nowhere near as full as a busy London underground train. I think its fine.
Is this first class?
Book a seat in the first class
I’m assuming you’ve never been to India 😂
some people are spoiled
Or just fantasy Basel happening ✌️
If you wears your seatbelts you’ll be okay, definitely looks a lot safer than I-35 in Texas
Overcrowded by Swiss standards.
> “Ça grouille de monde ici dedieu!”
Looks normal, in all honesty. Trains are being filled up again and people are getting more relaxed with covid, so it’s only a matter of time until it’ll go back to the pre-covid 100% capacity. Knowing Covid tho, it’ll come back in Autumn and Winter
