At this point they can’t do any worse than the current lot
>According to current opinion polls, Labour might emerge the largest party at a general election but could still be short of a majority. Given this, an electoral agreement with the Liberal Democrats and the Greens might seem an attractive option for Labour as it would avoid the need for SNP support in the event of a hung parliament
LibLabGre would get my vote.
Based on [a poll](https://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/blogs/ec_constsoc_20220523.html) of 16,279 people after the local elections in May, the data predict that with a pact between the Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green parties, the political landscape would be transformed.
In terms of MPs (changes from GE 2019):
Labour: 393 (+190)
Tories: 101 (-264)
Lib Dem: 71 (+60)
Green: 17 (+16)
Without an electoral pact, the most likely result based on current polling is a hung parliament with Labour the largest party but short of a majority.
With the pact, the pact parties would have a majority of over 300 seats, several cabinet ministers and possibly the PM would be ejected from parliament, and the Conservative party would have just over 100 MPs in total.
It’s hard to think of a single part of British life that would not benefit immeasurably from this outcome.
Now imagine what they could do if Labour agreed to let Scotland have a legal independence referendum, that’s another 45 votes locked up from Scotland right there.
Heck, it might even help bring some resurgence to a labour party that’s circling the drain in Scotland.
“Lasting change”? Both Labour and the LibDems are not commited to any change so I don’t know how that’s going to work.
“Better than the Tories” I can get behind, but that’s it.
Labour must back PR.
Lock the Tories out of power.
Clean up UK politics.
God if Labour doesn’t introduce proportional representation they’re all fuckin idiots
Not a “shift in balance”, a chance for actual balance.
Hopefully the Lib Dems hold Labour to STV.
FPTP is ruining our democracy, no one apart from tories will ever get power under that now.
Lib lab and green (and our democracy) will all benefit from PR,
I’d happily go for a pact that includes shoving PR through then redoing the election.
Good luck with that, Labour think they have a divine right to rule.
Lib Dems have some serious atonement to do. From propping up Cameron’s government and selling out every single student vote they got in 2010, to Swinson spending the entirety of the 2019 campaign calling Corbyn a danger to national security for vague reasons, with barely a word about the racist, homophobic, terminally dishonest alcoholic fucking toddler who actually won.
Let’s hope this is the start of them not being giant twats again for a bit.
I so want PR. It’s just exhausting arguing with Labour supporters who condemn Starmer in public. Keep that for party meetings and always support the leader when addressing non members. It’s Starmer or the tories right now. There is no third option.
