Fraport Greece reported another year of sustained growth across the 14 regional airports under its management, welcoming more than 37 million passengers in 2025. The figure marks a 3% increase compared with 2024, underscoring continued momentum in air travel demand to and from Greece.

The annual results reinforce the strategic role these airports play in supporting Greece’s tourism industry and wider economy, while strengthening connectivity for local communities across the country.

December 2025 highlights Fraport Greece’s strong winter momentum

Growth remained strong even during the winter season. In December 2025, the 14 airports handled more than 881,000 passengers, a 9.4% increase compared with December 2024.

The late-year uptick highlights the increasing resilience of passenger volumes beyond the peak summer period, further supporting Greece’s position as a competitive year-round destination.

Flight activity increased across domestic and international routes

Passenger growth was matched by higher flight activity, reflecting steady airline capacity and demand across key regional markets.

During 2025, Fraport Greece recorded:

86,971 domestic flights, up 1.1% year-on-year
196,382 international flights, up 3.2% year-on-year
A 2.5% increase in total flight operations (domestic and international combined)

The rise in flight movements points to sustained demand for air travel across Greece’s major destinations, supported by continued route development and network expansion.

Thessaloniki Airport posts standout gains

Among the strongest performers, Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” delivered particularly robust results.

In December 2025, passenger traffic in Thessaloniki rose by 10.7%, adding 56,000 passengers and bringing total monthly volume to 580,267 passengers.

For the full year, Thessaloniki welcomed 7,982,798 passengers, an 8.2% increase compared with 2024, further reinforcing its role as a key hub for both domestic and international travel.

The results underline Rhodes’ enduring appeal and its position as one of Greece’s most established international tourism gateways.
