The Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) stays in the 901–1000 bracket of the international ranking, The Three University Missions (MosIUR) 2025, for the fourth year in a row. The university is the leader among the three higher education institutions of Moldova, included in this ranking.
First Vice-Rector Olga Cernetchi believes that USMF Nicolae Testemitanu maintains its position as national leader in this ranking thanks to getting international accreditation, in line with the standards of the World Federation for Medical Education, both at institutional level and for its integrated study programmes in Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy. Another strong point is that the university currently has the largest number of international students.
At the current edition of the MosIUR ranking, more than 2,500 higher education institutions from 150 countries were evaluated. The ranking assesses, on the basis of 16 indicators, the quality of education (45 per cent), scientific activity (25 per cent), and the university’s relationship with society (30 per cent).
Among the 16 criteria, there are: the share of international students in the total number of students; the number of victories achieved by students at international student Olympiads; the number of international academic awards received by the university’s academic staff and alumni listed in the IREG List of International Academic Awards; the impact of scientific articles cited globally and internationally; the university’s contribution to accessible online education; the university’s contribution to the development of scientific research in the country; the institution’s online presence and popularity; the number of followers on social media; the number of graduates who have a dedicated page on Wikipedia; the number of website users and transparency.
