Putin: The Million-Man March of Iranians in Support of the Regime, Leadership, and Government Shows the Real Situation in Iran
Russian President Vladimir Putin, while expressing his pleasure from the conversation with Dr. Pezeshkian and sending warm greetings to the Supreme Leader and the people of Iran, said that Russia is closely and attentively monitoring developments in Iran. He described the recent events in Iran as similar to the scenarios of “color revolutions,” adding: “We fully understand that due to the impact of long-term unjust sanctions, economic and social problems have arisen in Iran. However, unrest and rioting have no alignment with peaceful and civil protest.”
The Russian President condemned the actions of the rioters in attacking government, public, and religious institutions, as well as violent assaults on security forces with foreign support, stating: “The march of millions of Iranians, after these events, in support of the system, the Supreme Leader of Iran, and their government, clearly reflects the true situation in Iran. We hope that with the efforts of the Iranian government in the economic sector, we will witness improvement and strengthening of economic issues. Meanwhile, our diplomatic efforts to clarify Iran’s conditions and positions and prevent the escalation of tensions in international forums are ongoing.”
Putin also touched on the latest status of bilateral relations between Iran and Russia, stating: “We always welcome the further expansion of relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The progress of joint projects is satisfactory, and the fact that the Presidents of both countries are consistently pursuing the implementation of agreements at the highest level demonstrates the depth and continuity of the honest relationship between Iran and Russia. Soon, in the joint trade commission, the possibilities for expanding further cooperation will be explored.”
