The Penticton area grew by 0.14 per cent in 2025, according to Statistics Canada data released on Jan. 14.

As of July 1, 2025, Penticton — plus the surrounding communities of Kaleden, Okanagan Falls, Apex, Twin Lakes and Naramata — had a population of 49,807, up from 49,736 in 2024.

The slight spike in growth marks a decrease from the 0.5 per cent population rise the area saw from 2023 to 2024.

The latest data reports that 71 people moved to the area in 2025.

Over the last years, from 2021 to 2025, the Penticton area has grown by 1.8 per cent.

The data indicated that Penticton is inching closer to having a Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) designation.

Areas with 50,000 people or more are considered CMA, according to Statistics Canada.

Elsewhere in the region, the greater Kelowna saw its population grow by 1.2 per cent in 2025.

The increase means the Central Okanagan is no longer classified as one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities.

Edmonton’s population grew the most in Canada in 2025, by three per cent, followed by Calgary and Moncton at 2.9 per cent, respectively.
