The Royal Cat Society Malta is set to host the first local TICA-sanctioned cat show of 2026, bringing a major international feline event to Qrendi at the end of January.

The two-day show will take place on 31st January and 1st February at the Ċentru Pastorali Qalb ta’ Ġesù free of charge, and will feature a wide variety of cats from Malta and across Europe. Organised under The International Cat Association (TICA), founded in 1979, the event will showcase dozens of pedigreed breeds alongside rescued domestic household cats.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see breeds ranging from Singapuras and Abyssinians to Maine Coons, Ragdolls and Sphynxes, all competing for prestigious titles judged by certified international TICA judges. The show is expected to attract breeders, exhibitors and cat enthusiasts, as well as families looking for an engaging and educational experience.

Beyond the judging rings, the event will include grooming demonstrations and “meet the breeds” sessions, giving attendees the chance to interact with breeders and learn more about responsible cat ownership, breed characteristics and feline care.

Organisers say the show aims to celebrate both the elegance of pedigreed cats and the importance of promoting rescued domestic cats, highlighting the diversity and charm of the feline world.

The Royal Cat Society Malta describes the event as a unique opportunity for the public to experience an international-standard cat show locally, promising a weekend dedicated to the grace, beauty and personality of cats of all kinds.
