Following the President’s order, a large-scale check of the country’s Armed Forces has been launched in Belarus, and political expert Vadim Borovik explained why it is necessary to keep up to the speed with the current geopolitical situation

In his talk with Alfa Radio and SB TV, the expert stressed that the comprehensive inspection is not just a formal report, but a guarantee of maintaining peace and order within the country. According to him, constant attention is being paid to the Belarusian army. “To preserve peace and ensure order on our land, we need to be sure that everything is fine with our Armed Forces, especially in terms of their technical equipment,” Mr. Borovik explained. “Actually, it not the first check of the kind: relevant work is carried out on an ongoing basis under the personal supervision of the Head of State and the State Secretary of the Security Council. The whole world should see that we are in full control of the situation on our territory, and that we are ready to respond to any threats if necessary.”

The expert added that the Belarusian army should be ready to stop any attempts at destabilisation – such as, for example, provocations on the border or serious local incidents. He also noted the effective work of the border guards and the KGB, stressing that the country’s Armed Forces must act in the same co-ordinated manner.

“When we talk about Oreshnik and tactical nuclear weapons, we bear a strategic deterrent – which is an asymmetric measure that makes it impossible to unleash a global conflict against Belarus – in mind,” he stressed.

Commenting on recent statements by the State Secretary of the Security Council, Aleksandr Volfovich, who denied rumours about the absence of the latest missile systems in Belarus, the expert pointed out the strategic importance of these weapons, “Oreshnik is a serious argument. Medium-range missiles have tremendous destructive power. Located on the territory of Belarus, this complex is capable of reaching decision-making centres in key NATO countries. Attempts to speculate on this topic in the West just confirm a serious security crisis that modern Europe has driven itself into.”
