US vice president JD Vance will lead the American delegation to the opening ceremony of the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics on 6 February, the White House confirmed.
Vance will be joined at the ceremony in Milan by US secretary of state Marco Rubio, as well as Second Lady Usha Vance and the US ambassador to Italy, Tilman Fertitta.
The delegation also includes two-time gold medalist in short track speed skating Apolo Ohno; twin sisters and 2018 ice hockey gold medalists Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson and Monique Lamoureux-Morando; and 2010 Olympic figure skating champion Evan Lysacek.
US president Donald Trump is not on the list of members of the delegation.
The Winter Games will take place in Milan, Cortina d’Ampezzo, and other venues in northern Italy from 6-22 February.
The opening ceremony in Milan’s San Siro Stadium will include performances by Mariah Carey, Andrea Bocelli and Laura Pausini.
