A local councillor has welcomed Roscommon’s pairing with Slovenia during Ireland’s EU presidency.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Helen McEntee announced the details, which aim to engage communities across the country on Ireland’s European relationships.

In each county in the state, the ambassadors will participate in a range of public events to strengthen their ties with European countries.

Ireland will preside over the European Council for six months, from July to December 2026.
