Who is our winner from Selecția Națională?

We ranked the songs taking part in the final, using a 1-16 ranking. 1 being our favourite, 16 being our least favourite song. We then calculated the average of all our rankings.

3rd. Catalina Solomac – “Pink Margarita” (4.00):

2nd. Bacho – “Tata” (3.25):

1st. Satoshi – “Viva, Moldova” (2.50):

What did some of our team members have to say about their favourite songs from [NF]?

Kittens (Viva, Moldova): When it comes to Moldova, I’ve always thought they do better when they lean a bit into their silly, but still keep good structure musically. And this is the silly but cleverly structured song that could really work for Moldova. It really has the catchy hook to make it be memorable quickly, which is incredibly useful in the context of Eurovision and shouldn’t be underestimated. It needs all of the attitude and confidence on stage it can get, but executed well, it’s easily one of the most attention grabbing songs in the selection – and could easily go all the way.

Rory (Tata): This style of music is not usually my style at all, but there is something about “Tata” that just strikes a chord with me. Bacho is definitely a popular artist within Moldova, and it is great to see him make a comeback with such a strong song. I’m not sure if he will be able to pull it off on the night as this is quite a strong show for Moldova this year, but I am excited to see just how he can tell such a personal story in a way that gets everyone dancing.

Moldova’s Eurovision Journey

Moldova is relatively new to the Eurovision Song Contest, joining in 2005. Their debut entry, Zdob și Zdub, finished in 6th place, which had remained their highest scoring entry up until 2017. They were dethroned by returners Sunstroke Project and the song ‘Hey Mamma’, which finished in 3rd place. At the close of voting, Moldova received 374 points.

After representing Moldova in 2007, Natalia Barbu returned to Eurovision in 2024 with the song “In the Middle”. She received 20 points in the first semifinal, ultimately placing thirteenth and missing out on the grand final.
