Eccho Rights announced a new slate of Latin American sales for the Turkish drama series “I Am Mother” (“Sandık Kokusu”), marking another milestone in the title’s strong global trajectory. The latest round of agreements includes acquisitions by Record TV in Brazil, as well as Telemicro in the Dominican Republic, Venevision in Venezuela and Canal 5 in Honduras, reflecting the growing appetite across the region for emotionally resonant Turkish storytelling.
Produced by O3 Medya and originally commissioned by Show TV in Türkiye, “I Am Mother” has become one of the most widely travelled Turkish dramas in recent years, propelled by its exploration of motherhood, trauma, loss and personal resilience. The series, starring Özge Özpirinçci, Demet Akbağ, Metin Akdülger, Engin Öztürk and Nesrin Cavadzade, concluded in March 2025 after two successful seasons.
“I Am Mother continues to connect strongly with broadcasters across Latin America, where there is a clear appetite for emotionally rich, character-led storytelling,” said Barbora Suster, Head of Sales for LATAM at Eccho Rights. “These new deals, particularly with a major network like Record TV in Brazil, underline the series’ broad appeal and its ability to perform across very different markets in the region.”
The series has already been sold into Spain, Chile, Colombia, Panama, the U.S. Hispanic market and MENA, where it aired day-and-date with its Turkish premiere. Its growing distribution footprint reinforces the global strength of Turkish drama, particularly titles driven by intimate emotional journeys.
“I Am Mother” follows Karsu, a woman trapped in an abusive marriage whose life unravels when her young son disappears during a trip to Istanbul. Years later, an unexpected encounter offers the possibility of reunion, forcing her to confront past wounds and redefine the meaning of motherhood as she fights to reclaim her family.
Eccho Rights’ newest deals cement the drama’s status as a key export from Türkiye and highlight the continued demand across Latin America for high-impact, serialized storytelling grounded in universal themes.
