TotalEnergies and Bapco Energies have announced the formation of BxT Trading, a new trading company jointly owned by both partners. The venture will be supported by product flows from Bapco Energies’ refinery. The signing ceremony took place in Abu Dhabi and was attended by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King of Bahrain for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of Bapco Energies, alongside Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TotalEnergies.

Positioned as a new competitive entrant in the Middle East, BxT Trading will contribute to the growth of Bahrain’s oil sector by optimizing downstream assets, enhancing value creation, and expanding access to international markets. The partnership will enable Bapco Energies to draw on TotalEnergies’ extensive global trading experience while strengthening its own capabilities in areas such as market analysis, pricing, trading operations, and risk management.

The creation of BxT Trading further reinforces TotalEnergies’ trading footprint in the Middle East, complementing its existing operations in the region as well as its major trading hubs in Houston, Geneva, and Singapore. The venture is designed to enhance operational agility and responsiveness, allowing trading teams to better serve regional market needs through a strong local presence.

Commenting on the launch, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa stated that the establishment of BxT Trading demonstrates Bahrain’s dedication to building long-term strategic relationships with leading international energy companies. He noted that the venture marks an important milestone for Bapco Energies and the Kingdom of Bahrain, strengthening downstream integration, expanding global trading reach, and reinforcing Bahrain’s standing as a reliable participant in global energy markets.

Patrick Pouyanné welcomed the partnership, highlighting that the collaboration with Bapco Energies supports TotalEnergies’ continued expansion in the Middle East. He emphasized that BxT Trading reflects the company’s commitment to long-term partnerships in the region, with a focus on innovation, operational performance, and sustainable value creation.
