I’ve been looking at [homegate.ch](https://homegate.ch) interested in buying a house/apartment, and I see a bunch of listings around 200,000 CHF are these accurate listings?

  1. I think that is a mistake.

Below 500 000 CHF you will not find a house and a apartement will be not to find near a city for 200 000 CHF.

  2. Sometimes people advertise property abroad on these platforms and set Zürich as the location.

Also, although it is possible to see listings at that price, the,y’re liable to need 30-50k in renovations before being truly usable and I’m speaking of the kind of renovations you need a pro for, mostly.

  3. A small appartement in the countryside might well be 200k yes. Not everyone needs to live in Zurich.

Other than that, commercial properties are often listed with a price per square meter which might be confusing (although not in the 200k ballpark).

  4. …and also anything that ends up on homegate is probably not worth considering. In my experience most deals happen outside these platforms. The demand is so high that an elderly couple in my neighborhood put up a sign in their garden that they are not selling because people kept showing up and calling and writing to them. It’s nuts.

  5. Yes they can be. But it all depends on the region where they are and the state of the house. Not everything in Switzerland is in the millions range. Give us some examples. BTW I just bought a second residence for 153K (was on the market for 270K) in Kanton Jura while selling our house in Kanton Zug (in the 6 figure range). Of course there is a bit of a price differential, but this our retirement home that I will be renovating.
