Loved the original off the ball crew. Great listening. Haven’t heard the show in a long time
it would just be 24/7 hot takes about English football teams so no.
Talksport is just retired shite players talking absolute shite that they know will cause people on twitter to retweet them.
O’Hara & Agbonlahor wouldn’t get a job anywhere else but they’re brilliant at chatting shit so perfect for Talksport
Is this not what off the ball is ?
I’d probably listen in the car yeah. Off the Ball is grand but I’d rather not listen to Newstalk
OTB have it covered, all you need really
OTB can be decent. But the morning show has gone to shite for the most part, with it mostly reduced to bad Eamon Dunphy impressions in an effort get a reaction from people. Joe Molloy is excellent though, very knowledgeable.
OTB does the job thanks to regular guests like Tommy Walsh and Andy Mitten, and most of the hosts are good. However John Duggan is complete radio poison, just a narky smug douche, and Johhny Ward definitely makes a podcast unlistenable.
The show on 2fm I enjoy. Marie Crowe is a decent presenter and they talk about all things Irish sports wise and talk to proper guest about it.
From 6 to 7 I’d listen to that and then at 7 switch to newstalk for OTB
Talksport, as the article mentions, is part of the Wireless group who own a few Irish stations.
They run a digital service at weekends (maybe only Saturday?) with Premier League coverage… Trevor Welch hosts and it comes from Cork I think… But the commentary is from the Talksport International feed.
In theory Talksport Ireland could exist as a digital station here, but it would be costly with little return, would need dedicated sport coverage for GAA and Rugby, wouldn’t get away with repeating the English feed here. I see little commercial value in doing this.
The UK has tipped towards digital listening now, but they have DAB. We’re a bit behind that, but with smart speakers and wireless data we’ll be moving towards a larger listening on digital in the next few years. Until we’ve got more dedicated digital listeners there’s no value in doing this..

There’s no way they’ll get an FM license either.
