What to do this weekend in Prague: Best events for Jan. 23–25

Museum Kampa presents a retrospective of Pavel Rudolf, a key figure in Czech conceptual-abstract art whose innovative work bridges the experimental spirit of the 1960s with contemporary practice. The exhibition traces Rudolf’s career from his early kinetic explorations through to his final works.

Zabijačka, the centuries-old Czech pig slaughter tradition, is kicking off at Prague’s breweries and restaurants. FUZE gets into the swing of things with a four-day feast (Jan. 22–25) at their Masaryčka location, serving hearty specialties like blood sausages, pork scratchings, and traditional broth alongside house-brewed craft beers. On Jan. 24, Automat Matuška on Hradčanská comes alive with jitrnice, jelity, and tlačenka, paired with a special Vejmrda sour beer. Those in Karlín can head to Holka the same day for a similar menu washed down with beer from Dalešice brewery.

The National Agricultural Museum revives centuries-old Czech traditions with its annual pig slaughter feast, where master butcher demonstrations meet carnival merriment as the colorful Letenský masopust parade winds through Holešovice to its finale at the museum courtyard. Expect workshops on forgotten zabijačka recipes, live performances by the all-butcher Řeznická kapela, children’s theater, and plenty of blood sausages, head cheese, and pork scratchings.
