In the evening of January 22, Russian forces carried out an attack on the village of Cherkaske in Donetsk region using Geran-2 attack drones. Four people were killed, including a five-year-old boy, and five more residents were injured.

According to the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the attack occurred at about 22:50 in the Kramatorsk district. The attack drones hit private houses.

Casualties and circumstances

Among the dead were a 32-year-old man, his five-year-old son, and two neighbors. Five residents of Cherkaske were also injured, including three children.

“No physical injuries to the mother of the dead boy and the three girls aged 12, 14 and 16. Also injured was a 34-year-old local resident. At the time of the strike, those affected were in their homes. The injured were diagnosed with blast injuries, burns and abrasions. Doctors assess the condition of the injured as severe and moderate”

In addition, two residential buildings in Cherkaske were destroyed. Law enforcement authorities are investigating the attack by Russian forces as a war crime, in accordance with Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
