Like “unprepared” for brexit and covid mess. Nothing new here. Tories as usual
Like this wasn’t happening before the Ukraine war
yeah the crisp shortage is pretty bad, oh hold on, no it isn’t, there’s giant boxes of them in the supermarket.
I think there are going to be a lot of people in for a shock in a few months time. It’s OK for now but with supplies of vegetable oil, wheat and fertiliser all damaged, it is going to look worse come autumn. It will also become more apparent as fewer pickers have come here for the harvest season. It won’t be chaos but there will be plenty of gaps on the shelves like there were during the first lockdown.
On the whole the UK has been consistently unprepared since the Tories got in power.
You know why and you know they’ll only do what’s necessary at the very last minute and even then it will be barely enough.
We get what the majority want so we know who to thank.
Unprecedented?
Since the war started, it’s getting really difficult to tell if the thumbnail is a photo of Ukraine or Birmingham.
Is always something else’s fault. Can’t wait to see how the monkey pox will be blamed for the next crisis.
Honestly what country is prepared? I expect to see more food exporting countries to stop exporting wheat and maize in order to protect their domestic supplies making things harder for countries dependent on food imports
Thereby raising the likelihood of civil unrest and the Tories run on a platform of Law & Order.
Conservatives +5
It’s funny how none of the other wars of my lifetime have affected UK prices noticeably, like when Russia invaded Georgia or Chechnya. This even applies to wars in which the UK was one of the combatants.
What’s different now? Only the gas price?
We may not have enough food, or energy to heat our homes, or safe care homes for the young, or adequate and affordable housing, or enough staff for essential public services, or adequate schools, or affordable public transport, or the necessary levels of adult social care, or services to support the homeless, or living wages, or support for those on low incomes with long term illnesses or disabilities, or sewage-free water, or a functioning health service, or MPs that don’t sexually assault others
BUT
Something about the immigrants at Dover
CON +30
Edit: it’s quite depressing how quickly and easily I wrote this comment. The UK is literally collapsing
