Police registered a case against a contract firm, a head engineer and a supervisor for failing to provide safety gear to the migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh, while engaged in metro rail work, at Mandaveli railway station.
In the early hours of Thursday, a migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh was electrocuted while working at an underground Metro Rail construction site near Mandaveli station. The deceased was identified as Mani Yadav, 34, an employee of a private contracting firm engaged by Larsen and Toubro Limited. He was involved in underground tunnelling work at the Mandaveli bus terminus, where construction of a new MRTS railway station is under way.
Police said Mani Yadav accidentally came into contact with an exposed high-voltage cable during work. His co-workers immediately alerted the authorities, following which the body was recovered and sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem.
Based on a complaint, police have registered a case against three, including the site supervisor and manager.
