The only way to keep your bike parts from being stolen in Dublin.

  1. Come back after 10 minutes and both wheels will be robbed. Its like they’ve never seen a bike lock before?

  2. Not even. The only way is to walk. And even then, I’d be checking my feet constantly in case someone’s done a runner with my shoes.

  3. Next step: bikes that come with a welders torch and mask. So you just weld your bike to a lamppost and just unweld it when you go home

  4. Seems like they could just lift it over whatever the post holds. More likely they’ll wreck your bike for being a smart bollox!

  5. The only true deterrent is to use 10 locks. Pain in the hole to lock up the bike every time, but a single lock will be broken by any cunning thief.

  6. Zooming in, it looks like the lock itself is the weak point. Claw hammer and a wood screw will have that popped in 60 seconds or less.

  7. Not only will this not prevent wheels from being taken off, but it also doesn’t work with most bicycle racks. Locking it to a lamppost can also have it be confiscated.

Just get a normal bike at a fraction of the cost with a decent lock that you can be sure is difficult to pick

  8. I know nothing about bikes. Would it be possible to have a chain that is removable as well as locks? Or a foldable wheel rim that would allow you to pop a wheel into a backpack.

  9. Depends how much these bikes cost. Junkies will find a way to steal them if they are worth money. David Attenborough should really do a documentary on them. They are kind of like orangutans only useless to the environment and drug fueled scum.

  10. Eh sometimes I don’t think scrotes want to sell the bikes, they just want to be cunts

If someone seen that bike locked up, and realised they couldn’t cut the lock and still have a functional bike they would probably just make a shit of it

  11. Some cunt will still take a hammer or saw and wreck the frame/tires due to not being able to rob it. Can’t have nice things

  12. Living in Chile where these come from, can confirm the wheels are just as hard to rob as the frame, they are always the only ones still complete after a Saturday night. Doesn’t stop the thieves pissing on the seat unfortunately

  13. Is Bike stealing really that common in Dublin City Centre, I mean if it is then that doesn’t surprise me but I haven’t seen it occur whenever I go up there and of course I don’t live there so I wouldn’t know from any sort of personal experience.

  14. In my experience if they can’t get the bike free, they usually buckle the wheels the c*nts… I’d never leave my bike out in the wild in Dublin, unfortunately it’s asking for it to robbed HOWEVER there’s a car park on Marlborough Street that provide free indoor bike parking, fenced off and all the shite. Used it a fews times now, no complaints 👌

  15. According to a recent post, Dublin is great and very safe. What a load of s***e😂 Cork and Dublin are both awful these days. I find Ireland fairly grim in general at the mo unfortunately.

  16. I’ve seen lads just damage bikes as much as possible when they figure out it can’t be stolen. Kick the frame, the wheels and slash the seat. If it can’t be stolen, then they vandalise it.

  17. I’m sorry but that’s going to just look like a challenge too good to pass up to the average Dublin bicycle thief, its a way of life in my home town I’m afraid.
