A nurse from Boca Raton has been terminated after a video she posted on social media went viral, in which she made controversial comments about White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. In the video circulating on social media, the nurse said, “As a labor and delivery nurse, it gives me great joy to wish Karoline Leavitt a fourth-degree tear.”Leavitt announced in a recent Instagram post that she was pregnant with her second child.The video is receiving criticism from viewers as well as from the mayor of Boca Raton. The hospital released a statement that in part reads, “The comments made in a social media video by a nurse at one of our facilities do not reflect our values or the standards we expect of healthcare professionals. Following a prompt review, the individual is no longer employed by our health system.”The statement goes on to state, “While we respect the right to personal opinions, there is no place in healthcare for language or behavior that calls into question a caregiver’s ability to provide compassionate, unbiased care. We are committed to an environment that promotes trust, professionalism and respect for all.”WPBF is not naming the nurse because the hospital has not identified her.
