Newswise — Joel Snodgrass, a professor in the College of Natural Resources at Virginia Tech, is available to speak about the positive and negative impacts of road salts ahead of the winter storm.
Snodgrass says while they aid in safe travel, road salts have long-lasting negative environmental impacts. He points to the impact they have on drinking water and the costly expense to remove, as well as road and property damage.
