> Nadhim Zahawi, the education secretary, ducked multiple questions about who requested the talks, which have prompted fears that the “independent” investigation will be “a stitch up”.
This really doesn’t do justice to Zahawi’s epic three minute squirm under the baleful eye of Sky’s Sophie Ridge. At all.
What hope do we have. I thought this was supposed to be an independent inquiry!
She was called in by her boss’s boss to be given her final instructions.
Why they just don’t flatly deny it is beyond me, we’re used to their continual lying and corruption now.
“Sue Gray’s first report didn’t pull any punches” now this may be paraphrasing, but it’s news to me that there was ever a second version? Or is this a result of the meeting in question? (that most definitely, undeniably, undoubtedly, was not called by the government for Operation: Save Big Dog).
Ministers may not put meetings in their own diary, but they know exactly why they are going to a particular meeting beforehand.
Anyone who thinks Ministers just randomly show up at Room 3 at 2:30pm, as that’s what their diary says, is misguided.
The PM may not have actually called this meeting personally but he knew exactly what this meeting was about. Any Minister with integrity would have said “I’m not doing this meeting, as it could look like I’m intervening” but this is Boris Johnson, a man so comfortable with breaking the rules – indeed, he has never been held account on other occasions, why would you both following the rules.
His followers know he’s a liar and a cheat, yet still vote/ standby him
Perhaps we’d all better wait for the inquiry into Sue Gray’s handling of the inquiry before we make any judgements. It’s still far too early to make any judgment on Boris’ behaviour during the pandemic.
If they say No then that most certainly means it happened. 😬
“It’s a simple question: do you know who called the meeting? If not, then was that because you didn’t ask the question or Number 10 didn’t give you an answer?”
