This photograph, sent to us yesterday by a reader of The Dubrovnik Times, captures a version of Dubrovnik Old City that summer visitors almost never see. With the crowds gone, the polished limestone streets are once again visible, stretching quietly between centuries-old façades and bell towers.
In peak season, these same stones disappear beneath a moving tapestry of footsteps, selfie sticks and guided tours. In winter, they return to the foreground, reflecting soft light and reminding visitors why Dubrovnik’s historic core has inspired writers, artists and travellers for generations.
