Fish and chip shops at big risk of ‘tidal wave of closures’, say experts

  1. Numbers in this article seem very low, Irelands farmers grow 30 thousand tons of potatoes a year, I would have thought that much higher and only an estimated 450 chip shops seems very low too

  2. It’s a load of pollocks. Some plaices will struggle, but the government have no sole, so they will be left to sink or swim. Anything they say otherwise is just a red herring…

  3. Local chippy closed down out of the blue recently which I found odd because they were fairly popular, had proper chips, decent prices and it was like walking into a surgical theatre the place was so clean.

  4. I’d be worried more, that something as simple as chips isn’t even made in Ireland, so basically everything outlined is pretty much imported from some factory abroad frozen, and your chippy can’t turn profit, because eletricity and other costs went trough the roof.
