Carney says Canada has no intention of pursuing free trade deal with China

Prime Minister Mark Carney said Sunday that Canada has no intention of pursuing a free trade deal with China, saying their recent agreement on goods like EVs and agriculture was ‘to rectify some issues that developed in the last couple of years.’ Carney was responding to U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to impose a 100 per cent tariff on Canadian goods if Canada ‘makes a deal with China.’
