Iowa lawmakers are considering a bill that would require police officers to cooperate with ICE agents. House File 2041 says local and state agencies “shall cooperate and work with United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and any other federal immigration-related agencies when requested.”That includes detainer requests, which ask local agencies to hold an individual until ICE can take custody. The legislation does not include details about how the policy would be enforced.
