I think if you allow Russi to take Ukraine you are giving it open season to do what it wants without facing any real repercussions.
Most of the world don’t even know where Ukraine is. It’s western media driven hysteria pushed by NATO. Putin has pretty much shown NATO the red card on Eastern expansion. What you are seeing is that frustration that the game is up.
