GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -The Mesa County Board of Commissioners are set to discuss ratifying a letter to both Governor Jared Polis and President Donald Trump during their public hearing on January 27.
If ratified, the letter asks for two Western Colorado Disaster Declaration Requests to be approved according to the meeting agenda.
The declaration requests are $41 million in disaster aid for the flooding in Southwest Colorado, as well as the Lee and Elk fires which burned in 2025. The letter asks both the governor and the president to approve FEMA support for the communities impacted.
