Trump gives speech in Iowa: What to know

  • 2026-01-27

CLIVE, Iowa (KCRG) – President Donald Trump returns to Iowa Tuesday to rally supporters in Clive, nine months ahead of mid-term elections.

This is his second visit to Iowa in his second term.

He will speak at the Horizon Events Center starting at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

What will Trump talk about in his speech?

The White House says President Trump will talk about energy and the economy in his speech.

KCRG-TV9’s White House Correspondent Jon Decker reports Trump will discuss rising home values and declining gas prices in his speech.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Decker that Trump will also be visiting local businesses and meeting with lawmakers.

How to watch

KCRG-TV9 will stream the event live on our website and app, YouTube, and Facebook.

Traffic and parking

Some roads will be closed along with heightened security in Clive.

Those registered to attend the event will be allowed to park at the Horizon Event Center and at Revision Church’s parking lot next door.

Horizon Events Center will be accessible from the south via NW 100th Street or from the east via Swanson Boulevard.

Anyone else traveling to the area is asked to find legal parking in the surrounding neighborhoods and to be respectful of residents and private property, police Chief Mark Rehberg told KCCI.

Northwest 100th Street will be closed from Swanson Boulevard to Hickman Road from noon to 5 p.m.

Police say the closure is for a “Free Speech Zone,” where protesters can gather safely away from traffic.

What politicians are saying

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley thanked Trump for visiting.

“In 2024, Iowans voted overwhelmingly to return President Trump to the White House to lower costs for families, to secure the border and to bring down crime. Since then, Republicans have been delivering on those promises,” he shared.

Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks also welcomed Trump back to Iowa.

“I appreciate the President taking the time to hear directly from Iowans,” she shared in a statement. “I look forward to joining him and highlighting the work we’ve done to deliver the largest tax cuts in American history for working and middle-class families, while continuing our focus on lowering costs and strengthening the economy.”
