More than 25,000 households remain without power across the state this morning, with energy companies warning there could be delays in restoring it.

The majority of outages are with provider AusNet, reporting 20,300 homes affected. Powercor has reported another 4283, and there are 2760 Energy United customers without power.

Electricity supplier Jemena, which is currently reporting 2601 homes without power, issued a warning to customers on its website overnight.

“Due to high temperatures across Melbourne today, many customers have been impacted by power outages, and we anticipate delays for restoration of power,” they said.

“As we work as quickly and as safely as possible to restore supply to impacted customers, we will need to prioritise matters of public safety. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

CFA chief officer Jason Heffernan last night said tens of thousands of people were without power for a range of reasons, including the bushfires and heat.

“[Have a] battery-powered radio tuned to your emergency broadcaster and sitting there just in case,” he told ABC.

Our interactive below illustrates some of the worst-affected areas – but it’s worth noting that reported outages and impacted customer numbers are sourced directly from the relevant energy providers, so there can be a delay between reported figures and the live numbers.
