CLIVE, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa State Capitol Bureau) — President Donald Trump returned to Iowa, the state that he has won in the past three presidential elections, and stressed the importance of voters making sure that Republicans stay in the majority in Congress.
Trump said that he has defeated inflation, which stood at 2.7% in the latest report. He praised the tax cuts that Republicans passed last year.
He shared stories about the 2024 election, mocked former president Joe Biden, and claimed that he won the 2020 election that he lost.
Trump told the crowd that voters needed to send U.S. Representative Zach Nunn, the Ankeny Republican who represents the 3rd District, back for another term and that the seat could determine whether Republicans maintain the majority of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
He recognized the other Iowa Republican members of the U.S. House, including 4th District Representative Randy Feenstra of Hull, but Trump did not offer an endorsement for Feenstra in his gubernatorial primary campain.
Trump did not endorse any other Republicans for that race either.
Iowa could have two of the most watched congressional races in the 3rd District and 1st District (Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks).
The other two seats currently held by Republicans will have new representation with Feenstra running for governor instead of re-election in the 4th District and Ashley Hinson running for the U.S. Senate instead of re-election in the 2nd Congressional District.
