The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia issued a reaction to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, expressing regret that the Bulgarian side is increasingly positioning itself as a reviewer of the statements of the political representatives of the RMV, instead of being a partner in a substantive and Europe-oriented dialogue.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia emphasizes that the country has neither the intention nor the need to be involved in the internal political or electoral processes in the Republic of Bulgaria, neither through comments, interpretations, nor involvement in daily political narratives.

“We call on Bulgarian institutions to be guided by the principles of good neighborliness, mutual respect, foresight and institutional communication, principles that are fundamental European values. Europe is built with trust and results, not with labels and political qualifications,” the MFA’s response states.

We recall that the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry earlier expressed “deep disappointment” over what it described as official Skopje’s continued unconstructive approach and repeated, unclear and manipulative statements in public.

In the statement, the Bulgarian MFA specifically reacted to the statements of the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Timcho Mucunski, regarding the alleged initiative of the “largest and most influential” EU member states to organize a meeting between him and his Bulgarian counterpart Georg Georgiev, assessing these claims as manipulative.

“The 2022 European Consensus was unanimously adopted by all member states of the European Union, as well as by the Republic of North Macedonia itself. The dialogue is institutional and takes place between the candidate country and the EU, and the implementation depends solely on Skopje,” the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said. /Telegraph/
