An employee was injured after two trucks became fully engulfed in flames next to a natural gas fueling station at a Waste Management facility near Grayslake early Monday morning. The Grayslake Fire Protection District responded around 5:16 a.m. Monday to the Waste Management Renewable Natural Gas Facility, 1975 South Route 83 in Grayslake, for a report of a fire. Grayslake Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Ian Mandigo said there were reports of two roll-off trucks on fire.

Firefighters arrived and found two trucks heavily engulfed in flames. There were concerns that the fire could spread to other trucks as well as an adjacent natural gas fueling station, Mandigo said.

Firefighters immediately began pulling multiple hose lines to begin to extinguish the fire and established a water supply. Mandigo said fire crews operated with enhanced safety precautions due to the potential presence of flammable and hazardous materials.
