Tl;dr: Crispin Blunt, after appearing to retract his skepticism over Khan’s conviction, has now doubled down on his claim the trial was unjust.
> Last month, Conservative MP Crispin Blunt removed a post from his website and Twitter feed in which he had claimed Khan was the victim of a “dreadful miscarriage of justice”, after the former Wakefield MP was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy in 2008.
> Retracting his initial statement, Mr Blunt insisted: “I do not condone any form of abuse and I strongly believe in the independence and integrity of the justice system” . . .
> But in a new interview with BBC One’s Politics South East programme, he . . . admitted he did not attend the whole trial, but said: “I know what decisions were made within the trial, which meant that, in my judgment, he did not get a fair trial or anything remotely like that.”
> Pressed on whether he still believes that now, he said: “Yes, I do.”
As well as being found guilty of sexual abuse of a minor, Khan was also accused of attempting to ply a 16 year old male with cocaine and prostitutes:
> [‘Andrew’] says he first spotted Ahmad Khan sitting by a campfire looking “off his face”. He claims he asked Ahmad Khan if he was OK, and that Khan said his friends had given him “far too many pills”.
> He claims Ahmad Khan later offered to give him “the best blowjob of your life”. The teenager then told his mother what happened, prompting interventions from her and her partner.
> Ahmad Khan later complained to Andrew about being “told off”, and asked why he had told his mother. “I told him that he had made me feel uncomfortable and that it was a bit weird. He asked why weird, and I said, well, I’m only 16,” said Andrew. “He replied: ‘that’s OK, you’re legal’.”
> . . . He alleges Ahmad Khan then said something like “why don’t we hang out and have some fun?” before offering to book them a hotel in Henley, “buy lots of cocaine and a prostitute and ‘fuck all weekend’”.

The press would make this top story for weeks if not for being tory…
What is it with these people and making claims about things they admit to objectively not having enough information about? Do they even know how ridiculous it is? And that’s before we get to the fact that this guy is talking about a rape xonviction.
Saw a video of Liz Truss telling her interviewer that she was misrepresenting something she was told by another interviewee, and then admitted to not having seen that interview or knowing what was actually said there.
Why would we need judges and courts when we have the Tory ruling class.
They know exactly what’s right and wrong. /s
khan was a tory mp, and as such should only have faced a council of fellow tory mp’s to clear him of any wrongdoing. as an mp can clearly do as they wish to one of those dirty peasants.
I recall at the time that Blunt only attended the defence portion of the trial and not the prosecution.
Straight out of the US conservative playbook. Don’t bother with the facts. Just make up statements that support any fiction at all and wait for the right wing press to present your lies as fact.
Isn’t this the guy who blocked the banking of taking upskirt photos?
