The Luxembourgish broadcaster RTL has confirmed it is consulting with a number of partners over claims that its entry “Mother Nature”p plagiarises a song by Birdy.

In a statement to the Luxemburger Wort, RTL has confirmed it is holding talks with a number of organisations over claims that its entry for Eurovision 2026 is plagiarising another song. Similarities have been noticed by fans between “Mother Nature” by Eva Marija and “Keeping Your Head Up” by Birdy.

Jeff Spielmann, the Media Manager for Luxembourg in Eurovision, told the newspaper that:

“We, the Eurovision team, take the discussions about possible copyright infringements seriously and want to deal with them transparently. To this end, we are holding talks with, among others, the European Broadcasting Union, Rocklab, the composers, the artist, and the music rights organization Sacem.

It’s a fact that the song ‘Mother Nature’ was written last year by the composers together with the artist during the songwriting camp at the Rockhal, and that Birdy’s song in no way served as a template”

Numerous songs competing in the Eurovision Song Contest have been accused of plagiarism, but no song has been removed from the competition because of a finding of plagiarism.

Eva Marija was selected to represent Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 after winning the Luxembourg Song Contest. She topped the jury voting and televoting in the final round of the contest. Eva Marija will compete in the first half of the second semi-final on May 14.
