Middlesbrough fails again in bid for city status

  1. >Eight towns – Colchester, Doncaster, Milton Keynes, Dunfermline, Wrexham and Bangor – will get city status, along with Stanley in the Falkland Islands, and Douglas on the Isle of Man.

    Tough competition

  2. What actually constitutes a City? Having been to Stanley in the Falklands it barely resembles a village…and a very forgettable one at that.

  3. Silly nonsense. City status won’t make Doncaster any nicer a place to live.

More distraction – your rent, food and fuel bills are far more than you earn in that zero-hour contract job, but your town is now a city. Rejoice and thank your monarch, ordained by God himself to watch over you.

  4. It’s bizarre to give it to Milton Keynes but not Middlesbrough.

Middlesbrough has a history and an identity. MK is just a place for a bunch of people to be, with no soul and no particular reason to exist.
