If it increases the number of smokers healthcare costs will be much higher.
Considering that for Italy we are talking about 5/10 billion, I’m convinced that for Germany it could be even more
If that’s the argument, consider how much money they could make if they hook up everyone on oxycodone.
Does Europe have delta-8 and delta-10 as well as THC acetate? So, here in the US, we had a farmer’s hemp bill that specifically allowed farmers to start growing hemp again and selling any products from hemp that are less than 0.3% THC. They thought that would eliminate all psychoactive products, but it turns out there are a lot of active psychoactive molecules in hemp, just at low doses. So they get a lot of hemp and concentrate these alkaloids. What is really funny is that it is illegal to synthesis these products, but getting them from hemp is 100% legal.
So all across the US, not just legal states, you can get delta-8, delta-10, and THC-acetate. You can buy vapes, edibles, dorito’s with it in them. 15 dollars for doritos with 1000 mg of delta-8. Delta-8 and delta-10 are not as strong as THC, but they are pretty nice. They make you less paranoid and allow you to enjoy it. THC-acetate is just a prodrug for THC, and it seems stronger than regular THC. So even here in Kansas, weed is basically legal! Plus those things wouldn’t test positive as THC-9 on a GC/MS.
And then have a knock on effect to deregulate and legalise throughout the rest of Europe – let’s do this Germany!
You know what they say, 5 billions here, 5 billions there; at some point it adds up to real money.
It’s interesting to look back and compare with the big push for tobacco.
How long before the wheel spins full cycle and we have to invest inordinate amounts into new health advisory campaigns and companies start selling products to help you quit weed?
but but but it’s a DRUG, smoking cannabis leads to heroin, dealers are terrorists according to the dim-witted French Interior Ministry
Surely 5 billion is nothing for a economy the size of Germany’s
Yes, criminals love to get to the good side. And drug users love to pay up the taxes and extra costs for legality.
I remember once watching a documentary about the drug gangs in mexico. The jurnalist found out that the cartel pay 30% of their income to the police ta stay away. The journalist wondered how this can pay of for them. Meanwhile all the states in europe are taxin more than 50% of your turnover.
The income tax in germany is 42%. The vat is maybe 19%. Legal dealers would need to increase their prices to cover that cost. Why should costumers accept this when the illegal dealer across the street has old prices? Why should the existing dealer go legal, when they already know how to operate illegaly. Who is so dumb zo think that they would go 100% legal?

I guess it requires some joint effort
I’d never pass on this kind of pot
Seems like it’s high time to do it then.
